Just had the most AWESOME conversation with actress Tamala Jones. She’s a busy actress these days, what with filming the fourth season of Castle (which is a really cool and funny cop show) and doing some independent film projects during the hiatus.

Her character on Castle, medical examiner, Lanie Parish, is hot and heavy with copper, Javier Esposito (played by Jon Huertas). Look and drool over his Latin hotness:

me gusto!

They look good together:

I asked her if Lanie’s “type” translates to her real-life preference, and she told me she’s not in to pretty boys. She likes them a bit rough around the edges, and has a special fondness for the “mountain man” types.

But the coolest revelation was who she said she would “boink” (she loves that we play that game) listen up to hear who it is.

Totally thumbs up! for this couple! I think it's so classy to have an on-going work relationship and keeping it on the download! Kissing and telling are for the birds! Totally against the kiss and tell method! I love Tamala's character on the show! Someone said, (I don't know who, probably someone who had one, lol!) never date a co-worker or boss but, there are quite a lot of relationships/marriages that began in the work place. My dentist married his receptionist, my professor married his student, my friend dated most of her bosses, and I'm sure there's more! I'm commenting because a comment on Body of Proof was against a certain character going for a cute co-worker. Work and relationships are karmic related and we all have to meet our karma on or off the job. Since we are at the job most of time, it would make sense that our karma would have the potential to unfold at the work place; especially our "relationship karma"! It is very courageous and bold to take on any relationship! I myself, is a coward right now! lol! So I commend everyone in a relationship right now, on or off the job! Earth is the largest Soul Evolutionary College so let's get down to business; I mean all of you, not me! lol!

I would pick Elise Neal who starred in Restaurant with Simon Baker and Adrien Brody as her love interest.

lovely interview, looking forward to many more ones Christelyn.

Tamala Jones is a beautiful woman. I remember her from 2 Can Play that Game (one of my guilty pleasure films). I wish her all the best in the industry. I hope she finds that mountain man that she's been looking for =).

I remember her from the TV show, For Your Love, I think that was the name. She co-starred with Holly Robinson Peete, and a woman who I think was related to Michelle Pfeiffer. I really liked that show.

@MadamCJPCA, Tamala also starred in the movie The Brothers with Gabrielle Union, DL Hughley, Jenifer Lewis Shemar Moore & Bill Bellamy.

I never watched this show because it replaced my favorite show Big Shots with Nia Long & Michael Vartan(IR Couple). :(

I just saw Colombiana yesterday and Michael Vartan plays Zoe Saldana's love interest in it.
He seems to get cast in a lot interracial relationship roles I wonder if it's merely a coincidence.

I don't think so...he has a pretty blond wife.

I know about his wife, but he could still be getting type-casted.

He does seem to have an inordinate amount of bw as his leading ladies. Is he like the go-to guy for that or something?

Colombiana...that movie rocked! I saw the film as well. It was great seeing a black as a lead/love interest in an action film. She owned that film! i read that The Help is #1 again followed by Colombiana. I think that's awesome!

Christelyn you mention which celebrity you'd like us to choose to be interviewed, it's between kerry washington and zoe saldana. i love them both. I even tweeted kerry washington and told her that my dream team is her and zoe saldana to do a movie like "Bride Wars" surprisingly she tweeted back and said "that would be so much fun". that would be really cool if they did.

I meant to write "a black woman as a lead.."

Well it looks like there will be one less interracial couple on television as I just read that TNT cancelled HawthoRNe Jada Pinkett-Smith's show. Of course, the official press release doesn't state why considering the ratings were really good.

http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=667507&gt1=28103

HawthorNEe is GONE? Why the cuss for if the ratings were good?

Probally because of the writing. She had a disgusting disgusting sex sene with the walking skeleton/crackhead Marc Anthony.

I don't get why people are chearing on infidelity... I couldn't watch the show after that.

It's a tv show, good gravy, that's what they do create drama so ppl will come back to watch. It's not that serious. The show was cancelled probably due to ratings, that's why everything else gets cancelled.

I know, but I thought more of the character. I thought the Christina was a good woman but I guess not.

Added drama or not it sucked for me and turned me off the show. Could have done something else instead..

I think she was a good woman but that's boring in TV land, but her being a confused woman seems to have been worse LOL. Hey it's a nighttime soap opera like House or the Grey's Anatomy mess. I'm sorry I'm not fan of hospital shows anyway. Gimme Law & Order anyday, crime drama and not too delving into the character's lives unless it's about a crime. LOL. The ratings tank and you're off now, it use to be they'd give a show a 2nd chance to get to together, build an audience. Now it's like any hint you're losing ad $$$ and you get the chop immediately. And there are ten million worse shows than hers. Other than Law & Order and even they had some duds, I stick with HGTV, Food Network, and TCM.

I guess it was more hype by die-hard fans than anything else. Everyone I know said they watched so I assumed the ratings were good.
According to one article I found the first season pulled in 3.8 million viewers and this past season it dropped to 2.5 million. Of course, I've seen other shows with those numbers and they get a renewal, so it leads me to wonder if the drama surrounding the rumors of her and Marc having an inappropriately close friendship had anything to do with it.

I got the news that the show was cancelled on my twitter feed. a little upset, but this season was not what i expected. the show went all over the place and I hated how the show ended. I also agree that I thought that Christina's character was a good person and I thought we would have a season where both the husband and wife would grieve for the baby and how their love grew stronger. I didn't even like the fact that they killed off the baby.

Instead it turned into the Christina has turned evil show. I hated where the show was going and I was hoping that in season 4 they would fix the mess they created in season 3 becuz everything was completely unnecessary.

I can't believe what im about to write but i thought "Single Ladies" was better than Hawthrone season 3. Season 1 & 2 were the best. they kept it normal and relatable. Season 3 was a hot mess!

Michael Vartan I feel sorry for the most, every time he gets on a show, it gets cancelled. Poor guy.

Vartan seems to be the "go-to" guy for tv relationships with black women. This is his 3rd show as such I believe and yes, they were all canceled (hmmm). Now I think he's Zaldana's love interest in Columbiana. The streak continues..lol

Okay I did a quick Internet search and no Berry Gordy is alive and well.

Thanks Chris, I enjoyed this interview!! Loved hearing her discuss the characters on Castle, even though I don't watch the show.

And I'd like to see a Tami Terrell biopic. I hope she's able to get in touch with Berry Gordy to make it happen.

I thought Berry Gordy died? I swear I remember reading a blip on the Internet saying he had passed away. I wonder if it was one of those Internet hoaxes, I probably should have clicked on the link and read the article.

LOL, maybe you are thinking Barry White.

Very friendly woman! and pretty! To bad she likes thugs (I've google who she dates) :/

I got to check out castle!

LOL! Who does she date? BTW, you can see epis online, and I've got to say, the show is really good. Both serious and funny. The main characters have great chemistry.

Some guy named Trey Songz it seems like and she dated a guy named Big Gipp.

Congrats on scoring Tamala for an interview! Castle is such a cool show. It doesn't hurt that Nathan Fillion is a major babe. Woooweeee!

This is the first of many to come, Krissy. I've got an "in." Anyone have requests on who you'd like to see here on BB&W?

Ooooh!

Tamera Mowry
Rutina Wesley
Paula Patton
Janet Langhart (married to William Cohen)

Rosario Dawson

Kerry Washingtion (I actually met her when she was still up and coming). She and the cast of "Save the Last Dance" stayed at the hotel that I worked at here in Chicago. Well, everyone in the cast, except for Julia Stiles I guess she was too big a star to stay at our little "no name" hotel. Of course, at the time I had no clue who she was when I checked her in. It wasn't until years later when I saw her in Mr. & Mrs. Smith that I was like, "Hey I know her!"

As for other ladies:
Angela Bassett (no clue how she feels about the swirl but she is still an inspirational and outstanding black woman role-model.

Janet Jackson

Current First Lady Michelle Obama (if you can swing it).

Naomie Harris (I'd love to hear about the Ninja Assassin 'deleted shower scene'..among other topics)
Zoe Saldana (can't even pinpoint-she's that great)
Brandy (...gotta talk to her about Maks!)
Nichole Beharie (she's making huge waves)
Tessa Thompson (just wanna hear more about her)
Jurnee Smollett (loved her since Eve's Bayou)
Anika Noni Rose (already a legend!)
Tika Sumpter (hate to us "it" girl but she is)
Raven Symone (Ms. Funny girl & $ maker!)
Keke Palmer (young & fab)

I remember her from "Two Can Play That Game" with Viveca A. Fox. I've seen her in another movie but the name escapes me at the moment.

A great actress!

She was in booty call. I remember that vividly, because I actually identified with her character when it came to safe sex. I know it's nuts to remember that after all these years, but she was right "you can never be too careful" lol

LOL! I vaguely remember some scenes that were in a video on the soundtrack or something back then, something with saran or bubble wrap??

She is really beautiful.

i know her as an actress but havent heard of that show. wish channel does it come on... i usually watch csi, law and order.

Keeks, "Castle" comes on ABC.

She is indeed, a fine actress. Lovely woman with a great sense of humor--I would love to see more of her.

Viola Davis, though and Zoe Saldana (huge fan of both) seem to be the de rigueur choices for black actresses lately--but at least many of their roles are non-stereotypical.

Single male I'd boink in a heartbeat: George Clooney: Quintessential cool, gives great face, utterly charming with an intellect. *swoon*
