Meet Richard and Alana Newman, creators of the uniquely cute and amazing “Happy Couple Workout.”

I met Alana when she and I were invited to the Kansas governor’s mansion for our similar work with pro-family and children’s advocacy. I fell in love. She became a rabid fan of NWNW, and I became a fan of her “Anonymous Us” project. I was in awe at how smart, beautiful, and enlightened she was. She’s been such a cheerleader of my blog and even came to one of my NYC book signings, where I got to meet her cuddly, sweet baby for the first time.

I so love her spirit. So that’s why I’m just tickled to announce Alana and Richard’s joint venture–”The Happy Couple Workout.”

Just look at them…they say the family that sweat together, stays together–or something like that.

Beyond Black & White Featured on “Love J’s” On UStream!

Last weekend I had the BEST and REALEST conversation with just about the cutest couple I’ve ever seen, Justin and Joy, otherwise known as “The Love J’s.” We had a really great discussion about the blog, interracial relationships, black men and black women dynamics, and the astronomical out-of-wedlock rate in the black community.

Ukraine Swirl on the Big Screen!

I am a certified Swirl Hunter and can find black women swirlers or swirl-related news in the outer most regions of the Earth. Imagine my surprise when I came across this movie with an African woman interracial theme! I was beyond thrilled reading about Feathered Dreams and the trailer did not disappoint. I love movies as much as the next person, but I have found other things to do with my time quite honestly these days. However, this movie I am putting on my “MUST SEE” list. Maybe that is because the last movie I saw was 9 months ago when I was braving the frigid, nose hair freezing North Pole, Alaska 51 degrees below zero days. After that experience, nobody should be asking why movies are low priority for or anyone in my family. But I digress.

Feathered Dreams is the first Ukrainian feature length film distributed internationally. Highlight Pictures presents this movie recorded in English, and it is a joint Ukrainian/Nigerian venture. Feathered Dreams is about the beautiful Sade – a young Nigerian Medical school student who actually dreams of becoming a professional singer.

Talk about obstacles to overcome, Sade has her share of them. Her father dies and she goes to medical school to satisfy her mother, but at what cost? Compounded by her life experiences she finds a way to her dream. Sade overcomes hurt and pain with her talent, persistence and the undying love of her kind hearted and good natured Ukrainian boyfriend Denis. There is suspense, intrigue and an awesome love story.

Interpreting Sade is the lovely, award winning Nigerian actress Omoni Oboli. Denis’ character is being played by Andrey (Andrew) Rozhen. Andrew is doubling his duties in Feathered Dreams as he is also the award winning director for the film. They both have a wonderful on screen chemistry and they are destined to have a retinue of inspired black women all over the globe.

*Serendipity* — Guess who is singing the title song “My Everything”???? Why it’s Gaitana of course. This ultra-talented Afro-Ukrainian (Congolese) songstress was the natural and logical choice. Gaitana is looking hot on the video I might add.

Did you get a chance to catch Dr. Phil today? No? Boss won’t let you work in front of the television? Well here’s a summary for you:

After seeing this woman, I have a new-found empathy for poor little Lindsey. With a mom like that, how could you help not turning out a mess? What’s worse, SHE called and ASKED to be on the show, then turns around and performs as the worst cartoon of a mother I’ve ever seen. I just can NOT with these Hollywood people. She is so obviously high as a kite. If I were Lindsey, I think I might have waited outside the studio and ran her over. It probably wouldn’t do much damage, because you don’t tense your muscles when you high, so she’d most likely just bounce off the hood.That’ll learn ‘er.

Check out this amazing woman. I want to be her when I grow up. This woman is 60. As in, 10 years over half a century. Wendy Ida started her fitness journey at 40, so don’t go thinking she was and has always been an fitness fanatic. She’s also a domestic violence survivor and happily married to a lovely and supportive rainbeau.

After you’ve seen that, you might be wanting to buy her book.
