Curly Twist-Out How-To

I’m feeling like the Queen of the Flip-Floppers lately when it comes to my hair. You might remember some time back that I said twist-outs weren’t working for me because all of the knots that formed that literally tore my hair out. Well I discovered the problem–I was twisting on soaking wet hair and “borrowing” hair from one strand to compensate for a smaller strand, which caused a tangled, frizzy mess. So yesterday I tried an adaptation of Naptural85’s twist out tutorial…

What products I used

Eufora Hydrating Shampoo

Eufora Damage Cure Clay Masque

Philip B PH Restorative Apple Cider Leave-In conditioner

Nexxus ProMend leave in

John Masters organic argan oil

John Masters deep scalp follicle treatment

Homemade shea butter

Jose Eber moisture tool

————-

I washed, then let the moisturizing shampoo sit on my hair for a minute or so. I deep conditioned under a heat cap for 30 minutes. I applied the Nexxus leave-in and the scalp follicle treatment, then carefully detangled my hair into five sections and then ran the moisture too through it. If you’re curious, here’s how it works…

Note: I’ve noticed a significant reduction in the amount of tangling I’ve had using this. My hair is so much softer and more manageable. Combined with the Nexxus Pro-Mend, my hair is less prone to twisting in on itself.

After I did the conditioning treatment, I applied a few drops of argan oil and then  twisted according to the Naptural85 video, and put some soft rollers on the ends.

Then I slept in my bonnet (aka “the mushroom cloud).

Then I CAREFULLY untwisted and separated the two twists into four pieces, and I got this…

A view from the back…

The real test is what it will look like on Day 2. Any tips on how to preserve a twist out for a whole week? lolz…
