We have a new "after hours" thread! The builders just finished it, I did a walk-through, Sparkle pee'd on the carpeting to mark it with his scent and mask that 'new carpet' stench.

This tumblr is AMAZING!
AJ2011 love this!!
AJ2011 Just goes to show us that we are beautiful in any century.
So losing weight doesn't just boost your self-esteem and lower risks for disease...
IT CAN INCREASE YOUR WEALTH!
http://you-can-lose-weight-now.blogspot.com/2009/10/lose-extra-weight-and-you-are-likely-to.html
"Overweight Americans who lose a lot of weight also tend to build more wealth as they drop the pounds, according to new research. The study found that the link between weight loss and wealth gains was particularly strong among white women. Black women and white men also gained wealth as they lost weight, but not as much as did white women. The wealth of black men was basically unaffected by their weight."
So health plays a big part in enhancing our quality of life as well as our standard of living? Hell, works for me.
Anyone on Pinterest? I'm addicted.
Shulamit AJ2011 I love it too! I wish Pinterest was around when I was planning my wedding. So many great wedding ideas on there!

I am currently making a rose petal syrup. I actually saw some for sale on a specialty web site but they're always sold out. I decided to make my own. I made a lavender syrup that I add to lavender iced tea that is magnificent. Not sure what I'll do with the rose petal syrup but some suggestions are: putting it in yogurt, drizzling it on waffles, mixing it with soda water for a unique drink... it smells amazing.

Now that nerds and geeks are suddenly visible to Black, Hispanic and a very, very small number of White women, the East Asian women are facing competition they've never faced before. Therefore, in an effort to retain East Asian Woman Hegemony in the capture and marriage of geeks, nerds and investment bankers, as well as Jewish doctors and lawyers, the People's Republic of China will organise and train specific units of women to infiltrate the classrooms and laboratories of the Top Tier of USA academia. Each unit of 29 women will be distributed around the top divisions of each campus. Teams of three will become the "Most Beautiful Girls In The Lab", one per floor for biochemistry, while other squads will concentrate on other STEM disciplines. They will all be five foot six inches tall. The OIC will coordinate their activities and report back to Beijing and Shanghai. She will also cream-skim the School of Medicine.
This is what they look like http://youtu.be/1X3Vyhm56Eo but, of course will be wearing civilian clothes with much shorter skirts.
They won't get me. I will Survive, Evade, Resist and Escape. It's my duty!
Law Wanxi LOL!
Karla Law Wanxi #iCant.. i am so dying...
Law Wanxi You must admit, however, that in a martial sort of way, this is quite amazing. Their formation is perfect and marching like that is very difficult. I guess, with 1 billion plus population, it's easy to find this many women who are stunning and the same height. They kind of remind me of the Chinese version of the Stepford Wives.
Karla
They are the Capitol Region People's Armed Militia, "First to Respond, First to Defend". They're somewhat like our National Guard; purely reserve. The women are models, office workers, civil servants, housewives, students, etc.
There is a "making-of" video: http://youtu.be/jAGPCjZ-WFo
If you look in the background, there are Regular PLA women also training in green, uniforms. They are medical students from one of the Norman Bethune Medical Schools, which are run by the PLA to create physicians. That's the unit that could invade a condo in Irvine, CA as far as I'm concerned. They could take me prisoner, LOL.
Law Wanxi Love the weapons! I'm not a lesbian but they could take me prisoner... oops! Did I say that out loud?
Karla Law Wanxi LOL... they r lethally keeyoot.
Karla Law Wanxi It is what it is..LOL

Relaxing on my deck with my laptop, a mai tai and listening to opera. it's a beautiful day out here among my oaks and maples. Currently, on my iPod: Kiri Te Kanawa and Kathleen Battle (I particularly love "O Mio Babbino Caro"!)
Karla You dear know how to spend a Sunday morning.
I have had the extreme pleasure of hearing Dame Te Kanawa live at the Kennedy Center many years ago.
Did you know she sang in the movie Citizen Kane?
Brenda55 No, I didn't know she sang in "Citizen Kane". That's a very cool piece of trivia. I saw her at The Met, about two years ago, for my birthday. She is awesome!
Karla
This is a 17 year old Te Kanawa.

Actually, not true.
Citizen Kane was released in 1941. Dame Kiri Te Kanawa was born in 1944.
Sounds like a memory problem. You know memory is a funny old dog. A fellow will remember a lot of things you wouldn't think he'd remember. You take me. One day, back in 2006, I was crossing over to Jersey on the ferry, and as we pulled out, there was another ferry pulling in, and on it there was a girl waiting to get off. A white dress she had on. She was carrying a white parasol. I only saw her for one second. She didn't see me at all, but I'll bet a month hasn't gone by since that I haven't thought of that girl

OOOOOOps. You are correct. Seems that I was passing on an urban legend
Here is the correct informatoin
"For the operatic sequence which exposed Kane's protege Susan Alexander for the amateur she was, Herrmann composed a quasi-romantic scene, Aria from Salammbô.[6] There did exist two treatments of this work by Gustave Flaubert's 1862 novel, including an opera by Ernest Reyer and an incomplete treatment by Modeste Mussorgsky. However, Herrmann made no reference to existing music. Herrmann put the aria in a key that would force the singer to strain to reach the high notes, culminating in a high D, well outside the range of Susan Alexander.[6][77] Herrmann said he wanted to convey the impression of "a terrified girl floundering in the quicksand of a powerful orchestra".[6] On the soundtrack it was soprano Jean Forward who actually sang the vocal part for actress Dorothy Comingore"

I'm back.
Everything went well with the Desert Trip. I accomplished my goal, the real reason I went. I am no long fear-struck and panicky in sand and scrub. I used to love the desert back in my youth, but that stopped in Iraq in 2005. I wanted to love the desert again and now I do. The rest of the two week thing went well also. It was a mixed bag of stuff, mostly new and some familiar. It was hot and sunny and one of the most, uh, refreshing activities was treading water in a deep pool for twenty minutes in full field uniform. It cooled everyone off. Lots of hiking in clean fresh air, including a 30 km hike with a non-hippy backpack. I'm tanned, rested and I gained about 5 pounds of muscle. It was all good and a lot of fun. Last weekend we did some rock climbing and rappelling, and then some more rappelling and more climbing. I hadn't done that in a while and I think I may get back into that out in the civilian world. I did a couple of free-fall jumps and now skydiving has some appeal in addition to rock-climbing. I had an issue on one jump, but the secondary worked, so it's all good. These things happen, you know. And while the C-17 is a fantastic aircraft for a jump, I still prefer the good, slow old school C-130. Anyway, I had fun and got things done. Ooh-Rah!
Nothing's changed domestically. I'll be going up to a small town just south of San Francisco this coming Friday to help a friend drive a car back to Irvine. It will be a nice scenic road trip.
There are rivets to be had in the usual place.
Law Wanxi Good to read your "vacay" at the "resort" went well and you've returned to us, healthy and built. I was able to spend four days with military/law enforcement personnel but for different reasons. It was very intense but very rewarding. Am headed to read rivets.

Does anyone watch Sullivan & Son on TBS? It's pretty good. Doesn't hurt that the star, Steve Byrne, is quite cute too. :)
