Home Made Anti-Breakage, Growth Stimulating Tonic

DSC09701

I’ve had a continual struggle to find a leave in spray conditioner that was lightly moisturizing and wouldn’t weigh down my hair and make it feel gunky after a few days. I’ve discovered that if too much product builds up in my hair, I experience more breakage. I wasn’t able to find anything to my satisfaction, and necessity is the mother of invention, right? I looked the ingredients list from some of my favorite natural hair products, and realized that I was growing a lot of them in my own backyard! Well I harnessed the herbs growing in my garden to create a brew that lightly moisturizes, detangles, and imparts like moisture and scalp nourishment to help foster healthy hair growth.

Rosemary: Helps with hair loss and reduce breakage. Stimulates the scalp and facilitates growth.

Rose petals: Moisturizes, soothing calming anti-inflammatory.

Thyme: Increases blood circulation to the scalp; contains Vitamin A (the beauty vitamin); helps to decrease shedding and thinning

Chamomile: Soothes the scalp, moisturizes, imparts shine

Mint: Antioxidant, stimulates scalp, adds shine

Oregano: Antioxidant, fights dandruff and stimulates the scalp

Then I like add things like jojoba oil, sea buckthorn oil, coconut oil, peppermint and eucalyptus oil.

The results have been remarkable. Great shine without all the waxy grease and build up, and the moisture feels like it’s going to the core, and not just the surface.

The tonic is so easy to make yourself, especially is you grow these herbs. You could grow all the herbs I used in a hanging basket on a fence, wall, or patio like this one:
