Humid Proof Updos on You East Coast and Southern Ladies!

I recently vacationed with my family in the Pennsylvania mountains. And while it’s undeniably beautiful, the East Coast is humid as all heck! Since I’m resting my ends to protect my length, I’m always wearing buns or some variation. But as the humidity rises, so do my curls.

I’ve tried everything to keep my hair from disintegrating into a poof ball–hair wax, extra leave-in conditioner, light hold mousse. The last product I would have tried without a suggestion would be anything from Fekkai. I find that most of this line is wholly overprices and “meh” in its effectiveness. But…I was desperate. I went to a fancy schamcy beauty supply in one last hail Mary and told the attendant of my predicament, and she suggested I try Essential Shea Pot De Creme. Of course I wasn’t going to take her word for it, so I picked up the tester only to find it completely licked clean. The attendant wasn’t surprised. “This stuff flies off the shelves. Everyone loves it.”

So what about this stuff does everyone seem to love? From the website…

Crème gelée provides hold and moisture.

Tames and softens with rich lushness and flexible hold.

Coarse, dry hair is smoothed to fluidity.

Silkens hair so you can run your fingers through it.

Infused with pure Shea Butter.

Scented by jasmine and exotic florals.

Applying this product gives instant shine, control, and manageability. So much so that I would have sworn it was loaded silicones, but no! There is a silicone derivative, Trimethicone, but it’s not the primary ingredient.

Water/EAU, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Fragrance/Parfum, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Phenyl Trimethicone, Polyquaternium-37, Cetrimonium Chloride, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Bisabolol, PPG-1 Trideceth-6, Yellow 5, Yellow 6.

So how did it do?
