Engagements

Kerry Washington: The Swirl Marriage that Never Was.

So I’m reading the October issue of Glamour magazine, which I couldn’t resist buying because Kerry Washington was on the cover when I’m supposed to be sleeping. I do that sometimes.  I flip through to the Q & A and discover that Kerry was once engaged to actor and rainbeau, David Moscow, back in 2005. In fact, he’s the reason she’s so mum about her private life. Kerry: “I learned through experience that it doesn’t work for me to talk about my personal life. I’ve had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it. I was on the cover of a bridal magazine [InStyle Weddings, in 2005, when Washington was engaged to actor David Moscow}. But I couldn’t just turn around and say, ‘I only want to talk about the good stuff, but the not the bad stuff.’ So I just thought, ‘OK no more.”

Remember how those Scandal trolls were so gleeful that the actress that plays Olivia Pope, a black woman in love with a white man, married a black man in real life, and therefore proves…what exactly? That she’s open to all races of men? Uh…yeah.

Huh. Doesn’t look like she felt in any way, shape or form that she was betraying the race with the slave master’s son. She looked pretty happy and in love at the time. So to those in the GAT-DL who smugly say “She plays the slave master’s bedwench on TV but she married a brutha!!” You’re only half right. She married a black man (Nigerian) but not because he was black, but because for her, he was the best man for the job. See the difference, lovies?
