It's also a gay mecca here, some call it the San Francisco of the Midwest. I think that sense of progressiveness and open-mindedness is one of the factors that drives the large percentage of mixed families here.
Having lived in Minneapolis for 10 + years now, I can attest to the presence of a whole lotta mixed families here. A generation of golden children growing up in the Twin Cities. It's very IR friendly. At my office alone, just on my hallway there are three of us WM who have been in long term marriages with BW, and who have raised/are raising biracial children. Peppered around the office are many other bi-racial or bi-cultural families.
I really liked this video! It's interesting opinions from multiple perspectives. Maybe I should pay the Midwest a visit!
THe video story was very interesting HUMMMM!!!! makes me wonder if moving there could be an option.
Ohhh this off topic but check out a BBC special called Mixed Brittania.
nyaw I saw a little of it. Do they feature any Black women in interracial relationships? The little I saw was all about Black men. Did not like.
Patricia Kayden
yes they did feature black women. There was a show in the 70s about a white man and black woman marrying on daytime tv in England. Also they interviewed a British Indian man marrying an British African woman. I would not have stopped watching if most "mixed race" relationships were about "African men" and "White British women though". Though those relationships were the ones that left a large number of mixed race children in the hands of the State. That is what I realized.
Nice Video!
