Rae Dawn Chong’s Comments About Oprah Exemplifies Intra-Racial Hateration

Rae-Dawn-Chong-Oprah

Thanks to my many BB&W look-outs, I came across some pretty vile comments said by Rae Dawn Chong about Oprah Winfrey. It’s pretty shocking. From USA Today:

Rae Dawn Chong has some nice things to say about Oprah Winfrey. But the actress, who was inThe Color Purplewith Oprah in 1985, also has some very nasty things to say.

TMZ got a hold of a June 27 interview that Chong did for Matty P’s Radio Happy Hour and the harsh comments are spreading quickly.

“She was lovely [on The Color Purple],” says Chong at first when asked about if there was bad blood between the two on the set of the movie.

Chong goes on to say, “It was after when I did Commando and I was starring with Maria Shriver’s husband in the movie. That’s when she was a total bioootch.”

Chong says that Oprah invited her on her talk show but says Oprah “wasn’t having me. … She never called me on stage.”

Then Chong says, “She is amazing. I respect her, I think she’s done great things for women of color, women of a certain size. I think she’s an icon.”

But, she says, Oprah is a “great brown-noser. If you’re in a room with her, she’ll pick the most powerful person and she’ll become best friends with them. When we worked with her … she was that fat chick that was the … wannabe cheerleader that was the student council president that was best friends with the principal … she was that fat chick in school that did everything and everybody loved her. That’s Oprah — love me, love me, love me.”

But ,she continued, “You gotta respect her, no matter how vile she is — ’cause ultimately she’s all about Oprah and she’s boring — but aside from that, you gotta kinda go, ‘Hello, hats off, you have done an amazing thing. You have actually shifted the DNA of the universe.”

Then she attacked Oprah’s looks. “She took a woman, if you look at the way she looks — 60 years ago she would have been a housekeeper, luckily. She would not have been a house (n-word), she would’ve been a field (n-word).”

She went on, “We have to give her props. … I have to stop and say this woman is a miracle and I respect her and I say kudos to you and I don’t give two cents about the other parts of it. She shifted the DNA in terms of our thinking of a woman of a certain size and a certain shape. I love her for that. I don’t care what she’s about, I don’t care that I know her ins and outs, I just think that she’s done a lot. I love her for that.”

Take a closer look at how she insults Oprah. She says something kinda good, then follows up with some horrifyingly ratchet comment. Chong not only seems befuddled by Oprah’s professional success (and perhaps her lack thereof) but does the punk-bitch move and attacks her looks. Not only does she come off as hateful and petty, it forces the public to hold a microscope to Chong’s meager successes , which are so obviously eclipsed in comparison to Oprah that it doesn’t even seem like a fair fight. But hey, Rae, you picked it, so now we shall GO IN!

Chong says “She was that fat chick that was the … wannabe cheerleader that was the student council president that was best friends with the principal..” Well if Oprah was the wanna-be cheerleader, Rae, then I guess that makes you the slutty mean girl who gives blow jobs to the football team behind the bleachers, huh?

What I find laughable is how this…uh…actress seems truly confuzzled that Oprah, a “regular-looking black woman,” who has struggled with her weight could possibly be on a high pedestal than Miss Chong. Hate to break it to you, Rae, but nobody really cares that you’re the progeny of perpetually-stoned, Tommy Chong. Reign it in, Rae. Your envy is showing.

Now listen to her try to clean it up. She knows she’s stepped in it…
