Okay this post is more of a rant than anything.

First and foremost, I love all of you guys. I love the support and the love, because without you, Beyond Black & White would not be what it is today.

Some of you have written in about an annoying pop up video ad-on that I put up, and I’ve made it a mantra of mine to keep BB&W an appealing place where folks like to hang out and stay for hours and hours, so if I get more than three complaints about anything, I usually take it down. So now, as you can see, the video addition is kaput.

However, I think there’s something that you guys should know. I am NOT independently wealthy, and although I love what I do, my children can’t live off of well-wishes and a bevvy of comments. And while I hope to one day have my own version of a “Huffington Post,” I don’t wish to be an “Arianna Huffington,” and have droves and droves of people working for me for free. That said, the ads exist here so that we can continue to provide you with content FREE OF CHARGE. There are many costs associated with running a blog of this quality–the hosting alone costs $300 per month.

So in order for us to continue to exist, we need the financial support. I’ve literally put my blood, sweat and tears into this blog, and supporters like Brenda, Eugenia, Toni, Tracy Renee Jones, Demita Usher, Vintage Narsissa, and Jamila get next to nothing for all their contributions. So here’s a thought. If you don’t want to be bothered with all the ads, help us out.

You'll have it when I got it sista. I feel you on $$$ front, Christelyn. Thank you for the refreshing and insightful content without charge so far because I know the day is comin' when you will have to, at some point in the not-so-distant future, charge for said content. You'll see a check when I see one, I know that doesn't help yo pockets right now, well here's a consolation, my pockets gotta whole lotta lint in 'em too. Expecting matters to improve before the holidays and would be glad to help toward end of year - beginning 2013, sorry for now.

Yeah, I knew it would be an issue. :( I didn't mind because I figured you wouldn't put it up if it wasn't generating revenue of some kind.

I know funding this space isn't cheap. I'm quietly (rather impatiently) waiting for funds to deposit themselves into my account. Once that happens, I'll definitely chip in. :)

When I first saw the ad, I knew, I knew, I KNEW someone was going to complain. Sigh. I'm not crazy about them but I consider them a necessary component of any decent website. Baby's gotta eat! What's so hard to understand about that??? I will definitely contribute.
