Stila, Vaska, Barleans, SENNA, Anatasia Beverly Hills and More Wanna Make Sure You’re “First Date Ready” at L.A. “Swirling” Book Signing!

After May 15, I’ll be expecting to be on your Christmas, Kwanza and Hannukah cards because the mother of all book signings is happening in Los Angeles, and boy oh boy, we’ve got some goodies for only the first 25 people who arrive at Eso Wan book store–you know that one, where BARACK OBAMA and BILL CLINTON came down from Heaven to sign their books. And because I know people, I’ve got some folks really, REALLY excited about getting all of your First Date Ready (FDR). We want you to be FDR inside AND out, so get a relationships book like “Swirling” to get your mind right, and I’ll take care of the rest.

It’s not everyday that you get to have a book signing, so Janice and I want to kick off the “Swirling” phenomenon in the kick-arse-i-est way we know how.

After May 15, I’ll be expecting to be on your Christmas, Kwanza and Hanukkah cards because the mother of all book signings is happening in Los Angeles, and boy oh boy, we’ve got some goodies for only the first 25 people who arrive at Eso Wan book store–you know that one, where BARACK OBAMA and BILL CLINTON came down from Heaven to sign their books. And because I know people, I’ve got some folks really, REALLY excited about getting all of your First Date Ready (FDR). We want you to be FDR inside AND out, so get a relationships book like “Swirling” to get your mind right, and I’ll take care of the rest.

Not to be outdone, stila cosmetics is also clamoring to get you FDR. They’re gonna give you this…

THEN, Anastasia Beverly Hills, the guru of eyebrows, is giving away some brow-shaping goodies…

But being FDR is all about the outside. Since I’m a health nut, I got some folks to get you good on the inside. One of which is Barlean’s. First Date; ugh.

If I were faced two and only two choices, First Date or go back on active duty and get sent to Afghanistan outside of Kabul where the war is hot, I'd be all "First Date, Afghanistan, First Date, Afghanistan...".

It's a coin toss.

Law Wanxi First dates are that nerve racking eh?

Not really nerve-racking, but just unpleasant. It's like a job interview for a job you probably don't want anyway. I sort of liked the one woman who brought a printed checklist in her portfolio and filled it out during the 'tell me about yourself' segment. I actually went out with her a second time because I was impressed by her organisational skills. Not so impressive on Date Deux.

I did manage to come up with a strategy. I'd pay an employee $50 to call me at about one hour into the date. If I needed to bail, I'd claim it was a patient emergency. If I wasn't sure, I'd say "Thank you for the update on her condition, call me about her vitals and test results in about 90 minutes". That gave me another opportunity to pull the D-ring. It only works if your a physician. Investment bankers probably use other ruses.

Waterboarding has its place, but I bet we would have had better results at Gitmo if we'd threatened them with 150 first dates in six months. I would dime out my own mother to avoid that torture.

Off Subject...

I am listening to my local radio station and some of the community leaders(?) have at least 24 grants for black men to attend a local university totally free.  From what I can understand (those bm with good enough grades) will receive FREE TUITION, FREE BOOKS, FREE ROOM/BOARD, FREE POCKET MONEY,  and maybe free homework assistance.  What about the struggling bw college student?

You get nothing.

I don't know whether you've noticed this, but for the BC and Whiny Liberals, it's all about the Black Males. Period.

College? That just causes wimmins to be thinkin' too much.

Now get in that kitchen and make me a sammich; I just got to the next level on my PlayStation game and I'm hongry, woman!

/sarcasm off

ann4950 "What about the struggling bw college student?"

Well Black women are gonna have to shift for themselves. When it comes to being the designated black victim "There can be only one." and that is the black male.

Remember the black community, such as it is, does not get upset or mobilize for any issues unless the threat, transgressions and slights come from out side of said black community.  That is just a fact.

To further break this down.  Many black male's adverse interactions with the "outside world" is via the criminal justice system. Stop and frisk. Stop and question. Arrests justified or not. All of this has a heavy impact on the black males psyche  and that of the black community's. They feel as if there is a target painted right on every black men's foreheads.

The BC sees their young men pushed up against walls, hoods of cars and of course the perp walk. The fall out of this is devastating. Add to the mix the color of the guys in blue who are seen doing this. Further add the color of the people who prosecute and judge these men and you can kind of see how folks feel that the man is out to get the brothers.

Now black women's adverse interactions with the outside world is quite different. It is usually not via the criminal justice system. It is usually via the welfare system which is legal. The fall out from that is a piss poor standard of living and being called names like welfare queen. It is being seen as women of low morals for having kids OOW which is also legal BTW.

The BC takes an "Its on you" attitude when it comes to black woman's concerns. Since when has a social worker from the city pushed a black woman up against a wall or car and stopped and frisked her. Sure you get the stink eye when you use your food stamps and may have to listen to someone call you out your name but hey you don't have a record that will prevent you from getting a job.

As far as the BC is concerned black women's problems are all about the choices she makes. Where as with the males it is at the hand of "de evil white man".

What no one wants to touch is the extent that black women's problem are as a direct result of the males they shares their race with. That however is not an adverse interaction coming from outside of the community.  This one is coming from inside of the community and remember the BC does not act unless bad stuff happens to us from outside.

So no.  Black women will not get any grants. If they manage to struggle and get their degrees on their own they have to give back and reach back and help a brother out cause if you don't your a sellout and think your better and so on and so on.
