Top Gifts to Buy YOURSELF This Christmas

You’re saving your pennies for all your loved ones this season, but don’t forget a very important person–you. After all, charity starts at home. The following items have been BB&W tested and approved for awesomeness, so you can’t go wrong with any and all of our favorite things.

Kindle Fire HD $199

This amazing piece of technology puts the OG Kindle to shame and gives the IPad a run for it’s money, at about half the price. This thing goes beyond reading–it’s an experience. Watch movies in HD with stereo (yes, stereo!) surround sound. Sign up for Amazon’s version of Netflix and watch videos, movies, download books and music for about $8 a month. I bought this for The Hubster for his 40th and he practically sleeps with it. Unlike his little IPod, the screen is big enough that he can easily read all his news, watch sports replays and whatever else he does. The Boy loves it for the gaming and The Babster is all about watching Dora the Explorer and Diego.

T3 ‘Featherweight Luxe 2i’ Dryer $250

This blow dryer costs a pretty penny, but for good reason. Features and benefits:
– Clinically proven to be healthier than air drying, with up to: 79% reduction in frizz, 93% increase in body, 21% increase in shine, 36% increase in comb-ability and 52% increase in style retention.
– SoftAire™: Generates a greater volume of air and weaves through the dryer at the ideal heat and speed for faster and healthier drying.
– T3 Tourmaline®: Negative ions speed up drying while cancelling static and sealing cuticles for reduced frizz and enhanced shine.

In layman’s terms, this machine dries the hair without boiling the moisture out of the shaft. It helps seal moisture inside and helps hair dry faster, which means less exposure to moisture-sucking heat. Here’s a picture of my hair just taken today. The shine you see is not chemically manufactured. It’s a true reflection of the light  because the T3 seals  and flattens the cuticle. My hair is 100% natural, and I did not use a flat iron.

Oster Ironman 250-Watt Fitness Blender $88.00

Lots of you make your smoothies in the morning before work. The Oster Ironman blender lets you skip a few steps and save you some to the mess. You can blend your favorite smoothie or shake right in the sport bottle.
-Dishwasher safe 20-ounce bpa-free plastic sport bottle
-A powerful 250-watt motor and stainless steel blade crush ice easily
-Convenient One Touch blending
-Sport bottle features a slip resistant rubber grip and convenient clip

Tip: Don’t be over ambitious with the mixing. Good for softer fruits and veggies like tomatoes, spinach, kale, berries, peaches or bananas. Steer clear of hard-to-grind foods like apples and carrots. The motor just isn’t powerful enough to get all the chunks pulverized. I mix my protein powder, MSM, sugar-free vanilla almond milk, black berries and blue berries, a small bunch of spinach and a 4-6 cubes of ice and blend until I don’t hear the ice clanking against the canister.

Comfort Revolution Hydraluxe Wave Bed Pillow $79

Do you sweat at night? Have heat flashes, worry your hairstyle will revert by morning? The Comfort Revolution Hydraluxe pillow has a gel insert that stays cool to the touch and memory form to adjust to the contours of your body. This is by far my favorite pillow, but with one downside–it smells funny when you take it out of the package. It’s a strong chemical smell that won’t go away unless you follow the directions and leave the pillow out in a well-ventilated area for 72 hours.

Urban Decay Lip Junkie Midnight Cowboy Lipgloss $19

This is Urban Decay’s best-selling lip gloss, and for good reason. It’s a super-shiny gloss that last a long time without feeling gooey. The sheer, shimmery shade of Midnight Cowboy looks great on virtually every complexion. Get it for 20% off right now with Beauty.com‘s friends and family event.

HAIRMAX® ‘LaserComb Professional’ Hair Growth Device $495

Many of you have slow growth issues and hair loss along your edges due to too-tight braiding, weaves and wig-wearing. The Hairmax is the only item of it’s kind clinically proven to regrow hair and stimulate hair growth. I was given this item to review months ago, but held off writing until I was assured of the efficacy of the product. Five hundred dollars isn’t chump change. Here’s what I discovered: Over 93% of participants in clinical studies experienced significant new hair growth. LaserComb provides low-level laser light energy that stimulates hair follicles at a cellular level to promote new growth. With consistent use, most users see benefits in 16 to 26 weeks.

I used the product for a time and here’s what I noticed. 1) An increase in thickness 2) Less shedding. I can’t say I saw much hair growth, but I have to admit I fell of the wagon. I’ll be picking it up again, though. Check out the Human Lab segment on the Rachel Ray show:

Vintage Glasses and Sunglasses by MOSCOT $200 and up

Two words.

Johnny Depp.

I for one love that the classic styles of the 1950’s are coming back. We recently gave away two styles at our blog party in Washington, D.C., with our very own, “Leona Love Quest” walking away with a pair.

Don’t expect to find these at Marshall’s or TJMaxx. All MOSCOT eyewear is handmade using the highest quality materials, real hardware, and hinges that are riveted through the temple and frame fronts to ensure the sturdiest construction possible. Every MOSCOT frame is available as ophthalmic eyewear or sunglasses, with or without a prescription, and is customizable in a variety of frame and lens color combinations and sizes. That kind of quality will run you $200+.
