Staples Inc., founder Tom Stemberg has come into the spotlight very recently thanks to buddy Mitt Romney’s possible perjury on his behalf during his divorce. Even though I mention Romney’s “October Surprise”, this post is not about him or politics as usual.

What this post is about is…

178 Black Femininity: Who Decides What?

Black Femininity: Who Decides What?

I maintain that black femininity is under attack. The question is asked, “Well, what is black femininity?” The answer as far as I’m concerned is femininity in a woman who is black. But of course that’s far too simplistic an answer for such a complex issue….or is it?

140 A Black Conservative Woman’s Take on Mitt Romney and Black Mormons

A Black Conservative Woman’s Take on Mitt Romney and Black Mormons

I am a proud conservative republican and Mitt Romney supporter. With the level of vitriol hurled at black conservatives, I was not going to chime in as I think “why bother” sometimes this is not my fight. But I have a right to my say and views as much as anyone else. I don’t insult anyone who feels differently, nor do I resort to name calling because I disagree politically with anyone.

Having said that, I am by no means a defender of the Mormon faith but knowing what I know, I could not stand by and let some of the assumptions I have seen go unchallenged.

“Macho” Little Black Girls: The Anti-Femininity War on Black Women

Note: For the purpose of this article, I’m dealing with a specifically observed issue that has nothing to do with “butch” lesbianism in black women or non-black women. What I’m talking about is not an outgrowth of self-identified sexuality, sexual expression, or a conscious decision by the individual to move away from gender norms and form their own identity. This post is on something ENTIRELY different.

Brenda’s Rebuttal to Bloggers Who Take Jabs at Black Women Who Prefer Interracial Dating

“We on sites like this one want better than misery. We are not dumb, we have eyes and we know what we have been through and what so many of our fellow black women are going through. We know better.”

When Racial Unity Becomes Dangerous: Pillars of Salt Extreme Edition

As discussed in the previous blog post, Pillars of Salt – What a Waste of Time! We saw the example of Lot’s wife in the Bible. Turning to look back, she became a pillar of salt. She simply could not resist the deadly draw of her community and could not let go of the ties that bound her to it – not even to save her own life. Today, I want to address Pillars of Salt Extreme Edition (POS-EE). These are women who for their own lives will not leave dangerous neighborhoods and environments. This extreme and dire situation prompted an open appeal to them.

Why Can’t Some Black Women Put Their Interests Above Black Men?
