BB&W special guest, Abrams discusses Interracial Relationships, Interfaith Love and Online Dating with Author Damona Hoffman, a columnist for JDate and the Huffington Post has a new book called “Spin Your Web.”
In honor of Women’s History Month, I wanted to profile a special swirling black woman. I could not think of a more fitting role model, outstanding leader and phenomenal woman whose official title is Vice Admiral Michelle Janine Howard, three star ranked Deputy Commander of the United States Fleet Forces Command. Having aachieved so many “firsts” for a woman, a black woman, her graduating class from the US Naval Academy (1982), and family life.
“To the single women over 40 who are reading this: Don’t give up. If you just believe that you will find someone in your life, you will. I truly believe in the power of positive thinking and positive energy. It will happen for you. And when it does, don’t run and hide from it. Meet it head on.”
They are running out of mammies and mule to carry their water. Boo fricking-hoo. More black women are realizing that it’s not our sole responsibility to worship, uplift, and carry water for black men out of some mythical historical duty. Let the “blacklash” begin.
By immediate demand, here is your fresh OT thread…
By the way, I’m working on building a forum/message board on the blog so that you all can congregate and not worry about comment overload. However, it will cost me money. If any of you would like to contribute, you can drop a few bucks in the Paypal tip jar at karazin@sbcglobal.net.
Now OT away!!
Another South African girl has been raped and murdered in a grisly fashion.
Two months after Anene Booysen was found raped and disemboweled, another teenager, 14-year old Thandeka Madonsela, was found after having been raped and disemboweled in the veld in Naturena, south-west of Joburg.
Here’s a warning: Ladies who are doggedly defensive about anyone ever saying anything critical about their physique might want to scroll on to the next post, because this guy is giving an honest (and somewhat raw) opinion that I’m sure is going to offend some-dang-body.
I think my blog, The New Elegant Black Woman, is all about hypergamy and becoming a high quality woman, because it feels great to be one and because it makes you attractive to high quality men. I think that a lot of Beyond Black & White and BWE articles are about hypergamy too. So what it hypergamy?
Are we all ever out of our element…. Geez. I thought I would share with you the wonderful experience with being out on the road with 18 teenagers and one other adult. Now, picture this group. 18 kids from Detroit (most of whom have never had a chance to get out of the city and go anywhere), 15 girls and 3 young men. Most of them 18 or older, only a couple are 17. One tall (she is over 6 feet), athletic (she played major college basketball), drop-dead gorgeous black woman. And me…. Creaky old gimpy-kneed white guy. Oh, for ease I will refer to my fellow chaperone as Ms. Jones.
I’ve got to say I did not see this coming. TMZ reported less than an hour ago that Halle Berry is pregnant…again. This time with The Squinter’s offspring.
I know that I installed the word “VET” into my vocabulary as I found myself coaching more and more women on finding suitable mates. What if someone does all the right things, asks all the right questions and still ends up with a shyster? Well, Joy Richardson, a dear friend thought she married the man of her dreams and in just two weeks it started unraveling. I would venture to say that it started before that.
April 2 was World Autism Awareness Day. I have been one re-tweeting fool over the last couple of days doing my part to get the word out. But when I retreat back into mommy-hood, I return to the -what ifs and what will happen when- thoughts relating to my own son Elyjah who is autistic. Constant joys and worries take up permanent residence in the mind of a parent who has a child with autism.
Ladies and gents, meet Linda Wood Hoyte, 70 years of age. Yep. You read that right.
I have been getting shout outs from the BB&W ladies about nail color trends. And I have put together the first list of the most feminine nail color trends this S/S 2013. But don’t worry if you don’t see a color that you like, there will be a part deux–coming soon.
Here are a few color trends that have been spotted on the runway and street that I think you ladies can definitely pull off. Make sure to take some pics if you try a few of them out.
