Are we all ever out of our element…. Geez. I thought I would share with you the wonderful experience with being out on the road with 18 teenagers and one other adult. Now, picture this group. 18 kids from Detroit (most of whom have never had a chance to get out of the city and go anywhere), 15 girls and 3 young men. Most of them 18 or older, only a couple are 17. One tall (she is over 6 feet), athletic (she played major college basketball), drop-dead gorgeous black woman. And me…. Creaky old gimpy-kneed white guy. Oh, for ease I will refer to my fellow chaperone as Ms. Jones.
I am not talking about sex, and those elements in that process of two people experiencing the physical aspects of enjoying each other as man and woman. You know, the stuff Mother Nature has in place to allow organisms to procreate. Could I make that any more dry and sound like a lecture from a Biology teacher that puts everyone to sleep? Good, if you are still reading, now I get to the interesting stuff… I am talking about intimacy, that myriad of little actions that allow you and your Boo to enjoy each other as a couple, as a unit, as ONE with whom you just kind of melt together a bit.
“In my last installment of Swirling on Planet Earth, I mentioned that there are several reasons why I prefer black women. Here they are…”
“I enjoy the looks that we get from people in public as we hold hands, as I have my arm around Bee, when I rub her shoulders or back, or when I kiss the back of her head. One person out of every 10 gives an “Awww, isn’t that sweet?” look. On the other hand, nine out of 10 just give “The Look” of shock, surprise, or disgust. “
BB&W’s very own ‘EarthJeff’ shares his experiences as an interracially-dating tenderfoot.
It’s Saturday night, and you’re still home. How about some true confessions? We promise not to blackmail you later.
“Please, let us stop shouting from the rooftops about how [black women] shouldn’t date a white man because of slavery.”
