I know you remember this grammy winning group back in the 90′s. And then you heard that they gave their support for the No Wedding No Womb movement by producing a kick-arse song, “I’ma Fight Back Right Now.”
I’ve come to the conclusion that perhaps the only way to help lower income women is to help lower income men. You see, it seems that no matter what, women will have children with whomever is available for them to have children with. And if the only men in neighborhood are the type of men who dream of becoming rappers and/or already have a baby mamma or two ’round the way, then those are the men that those women will procreate with.
This post was created to shed some light on the different words and phrases that you see used around here with a great deal of frequency by regulars. If you are new to this blog or various BW-centric/BWE spaces, you’ve probably wondered at least once, “What the heck does GAT-DL mean?!” Well, wonder no more! [...]
This news release came in my inbox this morning, and I though it was significant enough to share it here in it’s entirety. What I find ironic is decades ago, it was high-income people who led the trends for marrying less and divorcing more. Poor people were aghast by them…remember? Then for a variety of reasons, it seems that the trend trickled down, but then more educated folks realized that single parenting and divorce ain’t the business, but poor people don’t seem to have gotten the memo.
“Yeah, it takes a “village” unfortunately there won’t be a village in about three generations, why? because three generations of Black children won’t know how to build a freaking Village. We have a Village because somebody fought to create maintain and preserve it. They were so good at constructing the village that despite our best efforts to burn it to the ground, the Village has some ever dwindling huts intact. They really knew how to build things back in the day. They built their village with STONE. We’re building our modern village with particle board.”
“As long as Black women continue to accept their subordinate status in the Black community, Black people will continue their descent into the gutter. Any community that is too foolish to listen to the voices of the women is doomed for failure. I learned the hard way that being a Race Woman has a high price and I cannot afford to do so any longer. No longer will I defend the actions of men who do not give a rat’s ass about women who look like me or my daughters.”
Marriage–of the legally and spiritually binding type–is the safest way to raise children here in America. I think it’s about time for Americans to ask themselves what do we need to do to make our marriages more like the kinds of marriages that Europeans are experiencing–even if the ‘marriage’ that Europeans are partaking of is not one that involves standing before a judge and pledging ’till death do us part’. Clearly, Europeans–and German’s in particular–know something we don’t know or have yet to acknowledge.
So how did Vanessa Bryant, the former Vanessa Laine, get it this good? There’s one main reason Vanessa is in this situation. And here it is: Vanessa Laine had parents that were not going to allow a man to mess over their daughter!
People think I have it against Halle Berry because I say she’s CRAY CRAY (ooops, I wasn’t supposed to call her that anymore–sowwee!). But I don’t have anything against her personally–she’s a beautiful and accomplished woman. My beef with her is how she’s handling the custody issue with ex and baby-daddy, Gabriel Aubrey.
I associate the word marriage with religion and since I also support a separation of church and state, I see nothing wrong with allowing religious institutions to retain final authority over the word marriage while the state only officially recognizes civil unions. But…
Our communities are plagued with rampant unemployment, drug and alcohol abuse, crime, and poverty but these issues are ignored because it is so much easier for all concerned to beat up on gay people.
Take a stroll in any inner-city neighborhood: On any given afternoon, you will see groups of able-bodied young men lounging carelessly on street corners, smoking marijuana boldly on street corners bragging about their bitches, whores and baby mammas. Although these young men show clear shiftless tendencies, throngs of ride or die chicks, sometimes with several children in tow surround them, taking loudly while dressed in pajama bottoms and dingy white wife-beaters complete with the proverbial head scarf.
