Asian Immigration to the United States is Increasing, More Dating Opportunities for You!

Just joking with the title of this post…but not really!

Asian immigration to the U.S. has now begun to exceed that of Hispanic immigration rates, according to a study released by the Pew Research Center. HuffPo is reporting that “about 430,000 Asians, or 36 percent of all new immigrants, arrived in the U.S. in 2010, according to the latest census data. That’s compared to about 370,000, or 31 percent, who were Hispanic.” Asians are making their presence felt in all corners of society–from creating new companies in places like Silicon Valley to building new cultural enclaves to getting advanced graduate degrees in prestigious universities.

Asians are a diverse group, encompassing immigrants from China, India, Vietnam, Japan, Cambodia and other nations. And with that much ethno-linguistic diversity there are differences between the groups. While Asians as whole had a poverty rate lower than the national average, those of Chinese and Korean heritage were more likely to live in poverty than the average American. People from India are most likely to have a college degree, at a whopping rate of 70 percent, a rate far higher than the U.S average.

This increase in Asian immigration is good news for the U.S. As a whole Asians lean Democratic, prefer a big government that provides more services, and place more value on marriage, parenthood, hard work and career success.

“Like immigrants throughout American history, the new arrivals from Asia are strivers,” said Paul Taylor, executive vice president of the Pew Research Center and co-author of the report. “They are the highly skilled workforce of the 21st century.” And they are the people you all will be competing with in the future for that good job or to see who gets that college acceptance letter. If you’re open to it, they might be the people you start dating.
