Beauty: “Bring Out Your Best, Beautiful, Black Self”–The Eyes Have It, and If They Don’t $75 of Dermalogica Will Give it To You.

Sometimes you guys are like ducks pecking. It’s not annoying the first time or two, but when it’s gets to like a hundred, I’m like, “FINE! I’ll do it! Just STOP the PECKING!!”

And that’s how I got the idea for this beauty series. You wanted more focus on what makes us uniquely beautiful, but I’m not going to tell you because you already know. These upcoming features are about how to PRESERVE the beauty you have without going to drastic measure to stay young looking, like becoming a vampire or eating little children.

Most black women have almond shaped eyes, slightly upturned at the edges like a cat. The bad news is as you age, that skin around the eyes can sang a bit, and add the discoloration around the eyes, and then you can look like this:

This woman is lighter-skinned, and this discoloration on dark-skin is often even more pronounced–think masquerade ball, black mask. Not a good look unless it’s October 31.

Yes; you can conceal it with make-up. But no, muchachas, I like to leave that stuff to the experts like Vonnie and focus on prevention and the cure. Because concealer often melts off after a night inspired by the Kama Sutra.

So the nice folks at Dermalogica want to help out on making your post-Kama-Sutra face as beautiful as MAC and /or Stila made it look the night before.

One lucky member of the BB&W Crew will win something today. Dermalogica Age Reversal Eye Complex, worth 75 smack-a-roonies. Here’s what the folks a Dermalogica told me it does:

–Helps minimize lines around delicate eye area; helps reverse photo-aging and chronological aging of skin tissues

–Exfoliates and smoothes skin surface, firms tissue reducing appearance of photo-aged skin

–Helps establish a better barrier to maintain hydrated tissues (stimulates involucrin that binds ceramides, part of the protective lipid layer of skin)

–Oat sugar elastic-like polymers adhere to the surface of the skin to smooth texture and provide tightening effect

–Address redness and puffiness by constricting capillaries

–Helps fight bags and under-eye dark circles while strengthening blood capillaries and increasing blood microcirculation. Reinforces structural support tissue to maintain skin firmness. Contains esculin and fraxin, two components that decrease permeability of capillaries and provide antioxidant benefits, to prevent breakdown of hemoglobin (dark color under-eye area)

–Treats puffiness around eye area by decreasing capillary permeability; improves firmness and elasticity

–Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7: improves firmness and elasticity
–Dipeptide: improves lymphatic drainage
–Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone: decreases capillary permeability
–AGE smart active ingredient complex that prevents AGES, inhibits MMP activity and quenches ROS (free radicals)
–Regulators of cell activities, stimulates collagen synthesis and fights wrinkles

Whew. That was a mouthful. Okay, here’s how you win. Just be the neediest. I was the chick who has this eye-hyperpigmentation problem, so take a picture of yourself (doesn’t have to be the whole face, just the eye area) and attach the link so I can see how bad it is with mine own eyes.
