In trying to branch out more with my article submissions, I figured I’d try something fun and a bit more in the spirit of BBW.  These articles will look at black women getting their swirl on in various media formats. For now, I’m focusing on comics and first up is one swirler you might not have heard of. Meet Zephyr:

Those of you ladies digging the character of Thor thanks to movies such as The Avengers might be especially interested in this one.

Zephyr is an immortal member of the Elementals and has the ability to generate powerful winds. Though she started out as a villain, she eventually turned on the other Elementals and allied herself with the Avenger, Ms. Marvel. She was also an ally and lover of Thor at one point.

Unfortunately, their love was not to be because their sexual chemistry was so explosive, it nearly destroyed the Earth. I’m completely serious:

And Zephyr isn’t the only swirling black heroine of note linked to the thunder god, but that goddess is getting her own feature in the near future. ;D
