This interview is long, but worth every second. Yesterday Kola and I chatted about some really deep stuff, and some really shallow stuff, like her hook-ups with Mike Tyson (!) (?) and Mr. HAWTNESS, Gerard Butler. Not only does she drop some wisdom (as usual) she drops some DELICIOUS details about our favorite gladiator.

Arlette81 is an idiot (and either white or a black man) but Kola Boof is also NOT someone to be admired.
She is clearly troubled and her sexual antics and inabiltity to filter herself speak to that.
I'm all for being sexually liberated- even borderline promiscious if you practice safe sex. But telling folks about it constantly in a crude, pointless ("look at me!") way is strange and tacky. Sure white girls do it. But Chelsea Handler is considered a skank- why join her on the sl*ut squad?
Kola was once beautiful, but she now has that "look" that women who are trying too hard with too many partners get. It is a waste of her beauty and talent. This is not how a black women- or any woman- should be.
Be OUT THERE! BE sexually free! Be open about your enjoyment of sex. But don't brag about having sex with gross people and hotties- like these people are all the same (notches on the head post). You embarrass better quality men. Kola won't be raking them in for long. And don't end up with TONS of nude pics of yourself on the internet wihtout even needing to enter a porn site. If you Google Kola and pics of her (for her legendary beauty) you get as many T8ttie and topless pics as pics of her on book covers. And they are not even glamorous nude , modelling shots. How is this being a strong black woman and owning your sexuality?
As for Kimora, Kola is still Tweeting about having sex with Kimora's husband? What is wrong with this woman? Its too much? Kola clearly has gone thru a lot of trauma and abuse in her life, but she is empowering herself the way that women who end up in porn or prostituion do. And that never works.

Amazing interview and yes I appreciated all of it including the more controversial tidbits. This is a complex and intellgent woman who has so much to share and I for one am more than willing to take what I can from her wisdom and experience.
I totally enjoyed her interview! The truth is truth. I agree with her issues about religion and the oppression...faith in a higher power is different. I also grew up with a mother that fought hard to give me the sense of entitlement that I used for the basis for my life.It carries you!
I also relate more to the assertiveness of ww about their lives than the idea of giving away my value to a bm like bc would ask us to do. I am encouraging my dd and sister to know that feeling entitled is ok...that we are worthy. Yes....specifically using those words. We have to be direct about this!
Kola is a beautiful woman. I can't understand who would look at this goddess and say she is anything but? My bff's sister is nearly her twin and from the US, Asia and Europe, intelligence, long legs, big boobs, small waist, smooth brown skin and dreads....yes.... non black men see her as gorgeous. Why is that so hard to imagine? Our "ugly" status with bm and media isn't indicative of what millions of men and women of every race truly knows about our beauty.

I don't know what's going on in her personal life but I enjoyed this interview. Discussion of black issues has been dominated by men - Tavis Smiley, Cornel West, Marc Lamont Hill, Roland Martin, Toure (pop culture), and on and on. Kola is articulate and has a unique point of view which I appreciated hearing. I would love to see her speak in person on black and geo-political issues.

Yeah, I want this thread to get back to talking about Kola and the interview that Chris did with her. I know some folks felt like the thread went haywire, so I'm going to do my best to bring the thread back around to its original intent.

JennyJames I think Kola Boof was an interesting choice for new, New Black woman. However, I don't applaud her behaviour towards our moderator. It was deleted before I had a chance to see it. Maybe Kola flew off the handle in the face of Jamila's to the point questioning. So that was an inappropriate response. Definitely.
On the other hand, do I really want to see pics of Kola with 100-twenty different men? Not really. How she chooses to live her life and her sexuality is her own business. What she says about THAT doesn't interest me so much. Jamila is right though, if she puts it out there, then she should expect some questions about it. And Jamila wasn't particularly harsh with her question.
If I separate that from the actual content of the interview, I can say it was a great interview. Her actual presence here, wasn't. Maybe she isn't all that compatible with the live Q&A type setting. I dunno.
