Will and Jada seemed to be our ideal black couple. When we hear of another black couple separating, they are our go to black couple. How many time have we heard, “well there’s Will and Jada.” Maybe this is why there is such an obsession with whether or not they have an open canadian meds relationship. An irritated Jada, in a slight huff decided to vent on her Facebook. She declared, “Will and I BOTH can do WHATEVER we want, because we TRUST each other to do so. This does NOT mean we have an open relationship … this means we have a GROWN one.” So, does this statement taint their saintly image? Is the black community left with Denzel and Pauletta? With a 32% divorce rate amongst African-American’s, shouldn’t we simply rejoice that they have managed to sustain a relationship and family for sixteen years? This may be hard for many to accept, especially those like myself that are a fan of tradition. I would chop my fiancee into tiny pieces for even suggesting the idea of an open relationship. However, agree or disagree, it is undeniable that Will and Jada have accomplished a myriad things that reflect positively in the black community, and whether or not they have an open relationship or a “grown one,” the black community should probably focus on their triumphs and let it be.
