As I reported earlier this week in this post, preppy style is huge on the stage this season in menswear, this year in fact. And that goes for womenswear too. Its a classic trend that no one could go wrong in. Plaid, nautical, newsboy caps; argyle,  polo shirts, pleated skirts, cardigans, capris and wide leg pants are the way to go.

Being cute a preppy is the beginning to your ticket into the yacht club. If you look and dress the part than obviously you ARE the part. With shows like Gossip Girl paving the way for us fashion mavens, I have put together a few looks to inspire you on your journey to preppy style, but before that, here are a few dos and don’ts.

Don’t wear acrylic nails–that would be your first give away that you don’t belong. However, nicely manicured nails with pastel, neutral or red polish are a big hit in this circle.

Pearls, totes, Chanel-esque handbags, wedge sandals, boat and driving moccasins and pearls should definitely be in your luggage.
