I’m a sucker for green smoothies, and since my garden’s greenery is growing almost too fast for me to consume, I’ve taken to having one every morning. I’m getting a kick out of experimenting with different flavor combinations–kumquats for citrus; chocolate and coffee for the fancy coffee-house version; berries for, well, berry flavor. My journey to eating clean has also led me to keep my sugar consumption as low as possible. But I also know that it’s good to have a sweet treat on occasion. So when I was asked to do this review of Maxwell House International cafe-style coffee, I wanted to create a healthy treat. So… SMOOTHIE! Bet you never thought about using Maxwell House International to flavor your green smoothies, did you? It’s yummy. The fiber from the greens will grant you an extra boost of vitamins, antioxidants and fiber, and the almonds and protein give a dose of protein, so this can be a quick and complete meal that should stave off hunger pains until lunchtime.
Maxwell House International Green Smoothie
2 cups MILD greens, like spinach, salad mix, or Swiss Chard
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
a handful of almonds
1 1/3 tablespoon Maxwell House International, French Vanilla flavored
one scoop vanilla protein powder
a handful of ice
All you have to do is blend until smooth, and enjoy!
Another way to get a little bit of a treat is by adding a little Maxwell House International cafe-style coffee to your regular coffee in place of a creamer. Add a little romance to your coffee by trying this: put some half and half at the bottom of your coffee cup and about a teaspoon or so of the Maxwell House International and stir. Then pour in your hot coffee. You’ll have a smooth, creamy coffee rivaling anything you’ll spend $5 at the coffee house for. If you want to try the recipe before committing to a whole package, you can get a free sample (or coupon) by clicking here. And if you’re really feeling lucky, try for a $100 Visa gift card by telling me which flavor from Maxwell House International you’d like to try, there are so many good ones: French Vanilla, Hazelnut, Suisse Mocha, Vanilla Caramel and Café Vienna, to name a few!
