Newsflash to The Entitled: Pastors Have the Right of Refusal Blessing Out-of-Wedlock Babies

Fox 2 News Headlines

Before I get into the meat of this issue I want to present a scenario to you. Imagine if you will, a couple attending a strict church. They live together but aren’t married. They get high every weekend and have swinger parties with married folks they meet on Craigslist. STILL, they come before the administration and ask to participate in the couples ministry. They want to be presented as examples for others to follow. Would would any church in their right mind go for that?

So when I heard that Pastor Marvin Winans refused to publicly bless an unmarried woman’s child, logic warrants that the pastor believes it’s against the values and doctrine of the church, and guess what? He has EVERY RIGHT.

This according to My Fox Detroit:

Grace [the offended mother/babymom] says she spoke with a woman who told her Pastor Winans’ policy is that he is not to bless children of unwed mothers in front of his congregation.”I’ve never felt so degraded and disrespected in my life,” said Grace.

Wait. WHAT?! You go into what is essentially a membership club and ask for admittance even though you don’t meet the qualifications? That’s like somebody with an IQ of 99 having a temper tantrum because she can’t be accepted into MENSA.

Wait, you’ve got to read this. The entitlement and irony of the offended woman’s comment is EPIC. EPIC!!

“I want to instill values and morals in my son based upon the word of God,” said Grace.

OMG REALLY? So basically you want the whole church to co-sign a lifestyle anathema to them while insisting that your child and (let’s face it, YOU) get recognition for NOT following the “values and mores based on the word of God?”

And before folks get their panties in a bulge crying about babies being innocent and free of sin, therefore deserving of a blessing, it’s true. They are. And preachers with this policy WILL bless the child, just not in public so the mothers get to buy fancy dresses and have parties afterwards, which is what I suspect is the real issue here. It’s not about their babies missing the pastor’s blessing. It’s about them not getting the attention they don’t deserve yet feel entitled to.

Fact: The sky is blue, not brown with purple sparkles. Actions have consequences. But we live in a world of spoiled, entitled brats who think they should get shit they didn’t earn. Lady, go get your baby blessed and take back that $100 dress you bought from Macy’s, because Pastor Winan’s ain’t having it.
