Hi Observer!

Yeah, it is interesting because it is something I noticed and had to figure out myself because no one talks about it. I don't know if a lot of people on here will be able to comment as it may be a very UK phenomenom. Visiting and meeting people in bars etc where alcohol is very much at play is not the same as interacting with people on a day to day basis. I wonder if the BW UK lurkers will have something to say if Christelyn decides to make a post about this.

Could you please clarify what you mean by the feminism satement re: the effect it's had on the Swedish men?

I don't know what she means regarding Swedish men, not much to complain about unless you get stuck in Sambo hell..

My husband is a very good and loving man. Lets me do most of the talking which is fine with me. He helps out around the house, take care of the children (More than other men, don't believe it until you see it there's dads everywhere with strollers)

LOL Nkosazana! :D
I realize how harsh that sentence sounded....and also how spoiled i am :P
You know when we travel to Greece, Spain etc in summer to get some excitement and new flesh? Yeah, i think i'm in that period right now...
Don't judge me. lol

All my life i've only had relationships with Swedish men and all have been gentlemen but i want to try something new i guess.
And lmao at "sambo hell", yeah no living together before marriage for me! No thank you.

You really gonna let those nasty southern European men up in there? urgh... strandraggare... Well, at least it's not one of those Arabs. Careful and use protection. You know it's one of the areas were most Swedish girls get AIDS. Very very sneaky men.

OMG no! I don't mean like that LOL :D
When I say "try something new" i meant like dating, flirting...not just have casual romp in the hay! I'm not a one night stand type of girl anyway lol

hahah äckliga strandraggare är INTE min typ, euw. ;)

I have no idea what 'sambo hell' means. Enlighten please?

Observer, while you trudge off to Spain to find your spark, I might have a gander to Sweden to experience these post-modern man that you are so fed up of. I wish. I hope they don't consider drinking as their favourite past time, though.

Actually I wouldn't worry to much if your foreign born about that. It's something participially Swedish women likes, not being tied down so they can leave their man any time they choice (Live together when not married). I don't think most Swedish women likes to be married.

And they don't drink more than other men. Well some men do drink a lot but not all men. Not my man. Not my friends husbands men etc..

Sweden is a very progressive country so...we are pretty equal here between the genders which is great don't get me wrong, however, i am kind of "Old fashioned"...
And many Swedish guys are not raised that way so....Of course, this (again) might be a case of me just being bored with it and wanting to try something new, heh.

I am young still so i might appreciate it when i get a little older :P

Thank you, Di.

What I've noticed here in London is that the sort of guys that I would be interested in -middle class and above- tend to get this rabbit-caught-in-headlights look in their eyes when they notice me (No, I don't wear a pineapple on my head). It's like they're shocked and unaware of what to do/how to act with a well put together and articulate (though I say so myself. Lol!) BW. As a doctor, I work with guys who, because they went to public school (posh) and spent most of their lives outside London (less diverse), they probably have never just chilled out and chatted on a social level with a BW. They are very forthcoming with 'their own', so I know it isn't introversion in the vast majority of cases. But I get in the conversation and it's 'freeze street' Lol! Actually, a lot of WW behave like that around me as well. Hmmm, interesting. They seem really out of their depth and it's quite frankly very boring. It's almost as if they're so scared of saying something racist (i.e. being politically correct) that they become unable to speak freely at all! When the guys are drunk though, then they want to get 'friendly' *insert eye roll here*

Asian (Indian) dudes are far more relaxed but then they tend to stick with their women or go with WW, which is absolutely fine by me. A conversation will do nicely, thank you very much.

So when I read on these BWE blogs that 'Europe' is the place to be, I often think 'Hmm, maybe they are thinking of Continental Europe'. Lol!

Now, I know people will jump in here and say 'The UK is a haven for IRRs'. Well, it may be, I have dated IR as well, but from my perspective much of the high flying guys get really nervous about the thought of a BW as a serious contender. They usually don't even look, to see if they might find her attractive. Then again, maybe it's my age group (I'm 28). I watch these guys and they are really stuck on the blonde hair thing. Yellow hair is like a trigger. And an absolutely stunning BW will walk by and not even get and a glance. It's like they are invisisble. Maybe when these guys get well into their 30s and realise that you don't date/marry just a person's hair, the wool will start to fall from their eyes and they'll begin to look up and around and try to find out more about 'others'. I'm not going to be waiting around for their self-discoveries though! Lol!

I think it's much better is the US (not in all instances obviously) because you guys are more used to each other. The conversations on here about self-confessed Conservatives/Republicans being more down with the swirl because they have their ideals and are able to separate that from their relationships has really rung a bell with me. In the UK, it's like I'm surrounded by Liberals and it's quite frankly frustrating.

Phew, glad I got that out!

Chi,Di, I get what you both are saying and it's very, very interesting.
Maybe this could be a future topic on this blog...I would love to know what others thoughts are about this.
Btw, I think we're interested in the same type of guys :)
The thing about Swedish guys is i'm not into them that much although i've only ever dated them since i was old enough to date...i'm picky but feminism has really had some effect on the guys here...also physically i prefer more intense colored eyes and darker hair, but that's just superficial stuff lol (think frederick windsor)
And i kinda have a thing for English accents...but this might just be a monthly thing lol and i'm young and like to experiment...what's the saying? Familiarity breeds contempt? i might have a case of that :P
Anyway, i dated a few brits and an english guy when i was in london. The english guy was middle class.
There is a difference in their approach and the questions they ask you among other things.

You bring up some great points about liberals and conservatives. Interesting topic indeed.

Chi,

Not disagreeing with your experience, but how would you explain the fact that 1 in 3 BW in the UK is married to a non-BM?

I am talking about a particular sort/calibre of man here. I don't think we can get a breakdown on the demographics and backgrounds of those in IRRs here. If you can, then I'll be glad to be proved to be imaging things.

Exactly.
It's a certain type of "class"...
Now, the guy I dated was middle class (lived in Fulham) but by American standards and class system he would be upper class.
I hate talking about "class" because it sounds so....I don't know...strange i guess since we don't really have a class system here...Of course there are wealthy people but the difference isn't really noticeable...

thanks for the breakdown chi. I've always imagined what it was like for irr dating over there...

Okay this is one of those moments where I wish was back in the states! he is hot! and he's tall! he should be freakin' male model! very hot! *goes to play the video again*

Hey Chi totally agree with you about the slim pickings here in the UK!
I live in the London area and many of the men are highly unappealing for a number of reasons including holding onto quite racist attitudes! Yes *shock* the Brits are probably more racist than Americans (just better at hiding it)..

Okay, Chris. His location is great! Now if you could just help me out by getting a Hottie within the right age range! LOL! This kid is cute, but I need one about 15-20 years older in Missouri...

Dang!!! Where are you finding these guys???
HELLO! Here I am signed, sealed, delivered, 39 and HOLDING!!!!
I'm yours.

What a cutie! If only he was about ten years older. *Le sigh*

Thanks! He is a cutie too bad he's a little too young for me although I just made the cut off! Lovin the eye candy!

Chris, i must say that I am rather impressed by your "hottie of the week" selections! dont know where u r finding these guys, but u definitely have great taste in men! I think I may hire you 2 find my next husband! LOL!

Please tell me he has an older brother as cute as he is.

SHOOT TOO Young BUT FINE!!!!!

Wow he is too cute! I'm 20 also, but I live in Georgia. Anybody think I should send him a friend request anyways?

Don't let a little thing like a few hundred miles of road stop you from making a connection. Christelyn knows I met my husband back in the Internet Dark Ages in a chat room. I lived in Chicago and him in Atlanta, and here we are 12 years later like the Energizer Bunny "still going."

Haha thanks for the advice. I definitely don't mind taking chances.

The younger generation is definitely more progressive than they were back in the 90's. A friend of mine was still getting death threats and her White BF's mailbox was getting bombed when we were in HS back then. You would have thought it was the 50's and 60's.

I just wish I wasn't horrified to message him, because he is only one year older than me and GORGEOUS.

*sigh* Curse my shy ways...

he's really nice. go 'head

Wow..this dude doesn't have a woman... unbelievable...well..I know it won't take long...if he has a wonderful personality to go with that face/body good luck...

yay happy to read that he's a christian!

UK redsident here and I have to say that they definitely do not grow them like that over here. Trust me to be on the wrong side of the pond *sigh*. He is a bit young, but I will be content to just see specimens such as this on a regular basis. It is slim pickings here.
Must make my way across to you guys sometime very soon!

Ps. What states classify themselves as part of the Midwest, please?

Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin

Thanks for the info, Sandy. Now I have to figure out how to fit at least half these places into the plannibng of my road trip route. Lol!

they grow like that here in texas too...
ok i haven't been all over the UK but I have been to central London and I have never seen so many hotties in my LIFE.

Lulu, it's quite hit and miss here. Some days, once in a blue moon, I see lots of lookers. But it really isn't that often. I've seriously given up looking... Fed up of the disappointment. It seems to me that the grass is somewhat greener on the Midwest side! You may indeed like it here though, as tastes differ, don't they? And we all know there's no accounting for taste. *chuckles to self*

Honestly, I only went into central london to go sightseeing about once or twice (my uncle lived in a suburb outside of central london) but then again I stumbled on this sort of creepy website (http://tubecrush.net/) and it's the same type of cuties I saw. They are definitely more on the pretty side I noticed.

@Chi, You are in luck, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chicago Bears are in London to play a season game over at Wembley on Sunday. No excuse not to nab yourself a big American man.Go get yourself one! :)

Ooh! I've had a look. Very tempted. Mainly for the spectacle of the whole thing because I've never watched a live NFL match. Should be fun. We'll see.

Why does Sam Tucker have to be so young (20)and of course so handsome! The midwest cold weather would not keep me from getting to you babe:)

Take me back to the future!!

Um. Hot. Damn. I'm not normally feeling the young'uns, but this dude is fine. Forget Belgium, I need to move to the Midwest. Seriously, what the hell are they putting in that corn?!

Does he have an older brother per chance? :-D At 29 though, I think my cute ass is too old for him...but well done Christleyn! He is quite a hottie!

And on a completely unrelated note, I sometimes joke that they don't grow 'em in Europe like they do in America and point to the Midwest as a fine example of Grade A American beefcake hotness. Glad to see that's still the case!

HAWT! Thanks, but alas, I am over the age limit, but no worries, the Midwest has lots of potential and I shoot guns too!

The thing about the midwest is that it's cold most of the year, so we eat hearty to stay warm! We are "meat and potatoes" people! So our boys grow up to be big and strong from the all the stews, roasts, and chilli they've been fed since birth! LOL!

Wow, he's cute!!! When I was in the midwest, I didn't see guys like this and Ashton.lol Must be a new breed.lol Hmmm, I'm in my 30's and if I weren't married, I'd tackle that.

That's right - no shame! lol

Very cute, indeed!! Pretty smile. :) 20 is a bit young though (although there are those who would say it's more about attitude and maturity than age). I once chatted with a 22yr old (who was pursuing his masters in engineering), who got highly offended when I called him a kid. (Mind you, he started talking about The Hulk within the first hour or so of chatting.........)

If only I were 18...years younger! Dang, where was this blog in the late 80's early 90's???

He's so cute!!!! Well hot actually, but I'm an old married woman so you girls go and get him on behalf of all the married women here. Also, this puts me in a better mood since I found out that Zachary Quinto just came out of the closet. :( Oh well, it's not like I was going to get with him anyway.
