QOTW: Her First Interracial Relationship, Long Distance

young girl shruggingI’m 20 years old and a college student. I recently went on vacation and ended up meeting this amazing guy. We are opposites on the outside and a little on the inside. He’s white and into a lot of sports type activities. I have a crazy side too so I’m not against jumping out of a few planes next to him. I’ve never dated outside my race before so all of this is new. Anyways, we only hung out for two days and ended up exchanging phone numbers. We live 1000+ miles away from each other. We’ve been texting almost everyday since we met and it’s been 2 months. I can feel myself falling for him but the problem is that he kind of has a commitment phobia. Since he grew up in a religious family, his family expects him to marry soon and the whole thing kind of scares him. He told me the only things that could stop him from talking to me is if I told him I was done or I told him too quickly that I loved him. So apparently I can’t tell him completely how I feel. But my friends have been asking me if we’re in a relationship and I don’t know what to tell them because he hasn’t made it completely clear if he wants us to be in one. I’m not the type to want to put titles on everything but we live so far away from each other and I don’t want to waste my time talking to him everyday if we’re not on the same page. Another issue is that we’re both graduating in May so I think it’s important that we’re on the same page. I like him a lot but I don’t want to waste my time talking to someone when I could be building something with someone else. Should I ask him what it is we are and where he wants this to go or am I overreacting and should just go with the flow?
