Politics: How Does a BWE Girl Vote in 2012?

I can’t believe it’ll be 2012 next year and it’s time to do this whole election stuff again. I kinda wish I could just remain willfully ignorant about such matters and just vote Democrat across the board like a good little black girl, but…I can’t. My dad did, though. He was a die-hard Roosevelt Democrat–mainly because he was actually ALIVE when he was president, and witnessed all of the good the party did for black people. My father was in the Army during World War II, and was there when it integrated. He saw how Democrats led the charge for Civil Rights in the 1960’s.

He also lived long enough to see the War on Poverty go horribly, terribly wrong; but still, he was loyal till the end. I was so happy he got to see Barack Obama elected in 2008, because he died June 2009.

I know when he was alive, he expected me to follow suit, but what can I say? I’m a hard head. Then that pesky question-everything-critical-thinking trigger goes off and then I have to actually examine the piss in my cup that folks are telling me is lemon Kool-Aid.
