Farmer’s Market Fresh: Mango & Avocado Salad (It’s Skin Food!)

Want skin like this? Eat your avocados.

I made this little dish after my run this morning, which by the way, is NOT getting any easier. It’s a shame, really. I used to be the fastest runner on my block. Now old ladies pass me by in their Hoverounds.

Anyway, food always makes me feel better. Mangoes and avocados are in season, so there’s no excuse to not buy them.

Mangoes and avocados are beautiful skin foods, chock full of Vitamin A, Vitamin C (great antioxidant) and the avocado has healthy oils that fight against inflammation and heart disease. Yes; there’s a lot of calories in it, but it’s good calories. Meaning, your body makes good darned use of them. In the following recipe, I add some raw hemp seeds to pack a protein and omega 3 and 6 punch. You’re welcome. And no need to spend extra dinero on organic mangoes or avocados–you’re not eating the skin, so it’s no problemo.

Mango & Avocado Salad

One mango, cut into bite-sized pieces

One avocado, cut into bite-sized pieces

One tablespoon chopped cilantro

One tablespoon hemp seeds

Slice of lime

Gently mix mango and avocado into a bowl. Sprinkle hemp seeds, and then cilantro on top. Finish with a squeeze of the lime.

And…voilà
